What do we really know about them?
Transparency in multinational corporations
This video was made by the anti-corruption pressure group Transparency International. It draws attention to the lack of publicly available information about multinational corporations. It suggests that the structures and activities of many such multinationals remain highly opaque. It is sometimes difficult to even know where they are based, where they pay taxes, or how the contribute to the societies they operate in. This may give rise to corruption risks, if corporations are not accountable to anyone or restrained by national governments. The video argues that citizens have the right to hold companies accountable for the impact they have on their communities.
