European Heritage Days 2020
Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the Council of Europe and the European Commission are again bringing European nations together to celebrate our amazing shared cultural and historical heritage. These unique celebrations allow hundreds of thousands of European citizens to experience the cultural diversity at first hand while taking a lively interest in regional history.
The EHD, always held on weekends in September, remind us that our architectural, historical, and cultural European heritage needs to be nurtured and preserved. Approximately 70,000 activities have been organised across 50 signatory states and all are completely free, to encourage as many people as possible to take part. The programme offers countless opportunities, among them visits to historical buildings and monuments, which are usually closed to the public, cooking competitions, traditional music performances, dance-offs, and much, much more.
