The Council of Europe wants more countries to sign and ratify the Istanbul Convention, the continent’s leading instrument to combat violence against women. In this interview the chair and vice-chair of the Gender Equality Commission (GEC) explain the relationship between gender equality and the Istanbul Convention, and highlight the issue of multiple discrimination, whereby women suffer many types of discrimination - not only related to their gender.
