Philippe Croizon climbed on to the roof of his house in France to take down a television aeriel and inadvertently touched an overhead power line. He received a massive electrical shock and severe burns. Psychologically and physically, he is learning to live with restricted arm and leg movement. Philippe has battled to come to terms with his disability and with the way others perceive him. He swam the English Channel and has gone on to challenge his body and stereotypes of disability by setting himself swimming targets across the world.
In this interview with the Council of Europe, in Dublin, Ireland during a conference on disability, Philippe explains the day-to-day pitfalls he experiences living in a European country. He also outlines his vision for tackling prejudice.
