How to integrate migrants into their new country?
As thousands of migrants flee to Europe in search of protection, it is Europe’s responsibility to ensure that all are supported in their integration into European life and culture. Within this, it is vital that children who have fled their home countries are given special attention, rather than detained under immigration laws.
In Bern, Switzerland , one centre, Zentrum Bäregg, is setting a positive example by helping migrant children to successfully integrate into their new country, and helps them to re-enter education and prepare for their future life.
The Council of Europe calls for an end to detaining immigrant children, and instead urges countries to offer more alternatives such as Zentrum Bäregg, which work to give children the best chance in life.
