Whom you choose to love, even if it’s a person of the same sex, should not leave you open to discrimination, but sadly this is often the harsh reality for many LGBT people.
Your sexual preference or gender identity should never detract from your enjoyment of your human rights – your right to freedom of expression, your right to freedom of assembly, or your rights to employment, housing and healthcare.
Council of Europe standards and mechanisms promote and ensure respect for the human rights and dignity of every individual, including lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender persons.
