Safety of journalists in Europe
Are we doing enough to protect them?
Journalists play an essential role in sustaining democracy in Europe, by providing information to citizens, and holding elected officials to account, by exposing mistakes and wrong doing. But in some countries, they are under pressure, facing threats of dismissal, prosecution and imprisonment. Even more worryingly, there have been cases of journalists being murdered.
Should we be doing more to protect journalists from these pressures, so that they can do they job without fear? In this video we ask the public for their opinion, before turning to an expert for his analysis of the problem.
