Encouraging children to « break the silence »
This powerful video encourages children suffering sexual abuse within their family to “break the silence” and speak about it. Created by French film director Roland Edzard, « The Lake » graphically illustrates – in the context of an apparently happy family picnic – the psychological pressure that family abusers can apply to their victims.
The film was produced for the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) as part of the organisation’s ongoing “One in Five” campaign against sexual violence against children. It was also supported by the Cyprus-based A.G Leventis Foundation.
